Say hybrids are the answer. We save the Earth, weather returns to “normal”, we all save money, cleaner air, etc. We all live happily ever after, right? Not exactly. They’re fine in places like So Cal, but what if you live somewhere that has climates? You might assume with all the technology in that 4-wheeled deprivation chamber it could handle anything, but check out what happens when this guy tries to drive up his driveway in the winter. Keep in mind, the driveway is clear, and has had snow-melting compound put on it.
Pathetic. If the drive was covered in snow, I might let this slip. But this is basically a cold, wet driveway, and it’s hilarious. It points out that if the Prius starts to lose traction, it simply shuts down. The weather it fought to save is its own undoing. If this was prison, the Prius just intentionally grounded the soap.
When the weather gets nasty, you can’t think about saving the endangered 3-testicled Tree Salmon. You have to think about your own survival. Personally I would choose Ken Block’s personal method of snow transport: The Subaru Traxx STi.
Call me when your Prius explodes because a leaf fell on it.

Maybe we'll buy food tomorrow, if it's nice out.

See, this is why you need a good running start. And maybe a 3' ramp or so, to give it that extra oomph.
Or, you know, trade it in for a Highlander Hybrid! Wait.
I can't believe you just wasted my time with this. Awful. Worthless.
Did that Prius have snow tires? Being from a northern climate, I don’t think a lot of 2WD vehicles would make it up a slippery driveway without a running start on all season tires.
Also, putting snow melt or salt down can sometimes make things more slippery. You can end up getting a mixture of ice and water on the surface.
This isn't just the Prius! A lot of undefeatable/unswitchable traction control systems do this! Also a set of winter tires might just cure this! And I was in the bush with a buddy in his Highlander Hybrid and it was totally useless in a foot of snow even with snow tires because of the undefeatable traction control!
And I drive a STi but even it has good winters on it!
What a total totally shit website. Good point Dan, I can't believe I wasted my time either it was as gay as aids.
