$31K!!! Holy Crap!!! Was their an option box left unchecked?

    • Albino Digits says:

That is a lot of money for that car. If I got a VW, I’d probably get a Golf TDI. Quirky, torquetastic, refined, and fuel-efficient are adjectives that can be applied to many modern cars, but how many cars can claim all those characteristics?

  2. Steve says:

Lucky you don't live in Australia. They are double that price and our $ is almost = to the US $ …….

    Hey the Smoking Tire.

I really enjoy your videos, but since the last 3-4 episodes I always get the message "Not available in your Country". I live in Germany….do you have the rights to change something in your upload, so everyone on earth can watch it? Would really appreciate it ;)

Same problem here. I`m also from germany and a regular follower of your show. The strange thing is, only some videos are banned. Maybe every third. I know that videos who contain music from artists, who are under contract by certain labels, are restricted because those music companies dont have a contract with a kind of " music rights regulatory association".
Sucks for us germans. Love your show anyway.

Hey Matt, You mentioned the HP for the 2010 GTI was 210, but I thought only the European version got a 10 HP bump over the previous year's model?

    Great review.

  6. ScoGold says:

Any chance of a Golf TDi review? You've recently tested the 2010 GTI and the 2010 Fit Sport…I think the Golf TDi would be a happy medium of the two in the hatch category! I'm currently waiting out for the 2011 Golf TDi to become available before trading in my 2003 Chevy Maliboo.

I always keep my eyes peeled for your reviews! Keep them coming Matt!

    • smokingtire says:

we've just reviewed the A3 TDI, which is very nearly the same car as the Golf TDI. All the important bits are the same, anyway.

      • ScoGold says:

Thanks for throwing in that you're probably better off getting the Golf TDi instead of the A3 TDi in regards for to the bang for your buck. What's your impression on the Golf TDi vs the GTI coming from a person that drives ~25,000 miles annually all highway in Boston?

I know it doesn't matter too much to you, but I'm really curious to see if there is a handling difference between the TDi and GTi in the New England snow? Very few message boards say anything about it.

Next up I think the 335d would be a great review to close out the german diesel series!

  7. chris says:

Matt, how do you think this car compares to the basic civic si. Steering ,engine etc…

    • TheSmokingTire says:

The Civic is equally fun to drive, but you have to rev it out quite a bit more to get any power out of it. The GTI feels quite a bit more expensive than the Si though….

  8. Dea9 says:

Just picked up a black 2011 for 22.5k I love it.

  9. Aaron says:

very nice car. as far as Volksagen is concerned with i really like its policy that the warranty does not get void if we customize it so i tweaked my car as much as i can. Great power now.

  10. Han says:

"Awww dang, this is just the doucheiest music…"

    ROFL, just ROFL!!
