Bizarre Roadside Sightings: Christmas Come Early Edition

It never snows in Redondo Beach, home of The Smoking Tire. So clearly, Santa would have very little use for a sleigh on runners pulled by livestock. No way. In California, Santa’s sleigh is pulled by a big block engine, open headers, and 18″ velocity stacks sticking out of a carnival horse’s saddle.

This Hot Rod stopped us absolutely dead in our tracks.  An engine, on a cart, towing a sleigh, that appears to seat 6-8 people comfortably. With my apologies to the Blastolene Brothers, this may be the most creative execution of the Hot Rod formula we’ve ever seen. Sadly, Santa didn’t want to stop and this was the only photo we could get.

Despite the huge rear tires, the actual drive wheels are the center two pair. The front half tows the back half like a trailer. We se so many “generic” Hot Rods in SoCal, that after a while, people start to feel like there isn’t anymore creativity in the game anymore. Thank you, Santa, for restoring out faith.
