Autoblog just posted an article about how much gas we use as a country, and what cars will cost you per year in fuel. That’s all well and good, but the chart they use shows Forbes Magazine’s list of “high in demand” cars for 2010 at the bottom. That’s where things go wrong. Three BMW SUV’s, an Audi SUV, and a Toyota Matrix? I have a very hard time believing, with the exception, maybe, of the Q5, that these are the 5 most in-demand cars in the US. I mean, the X3 is on its last leg and everyone knows there’s a new one coming next year. So that can’t be selling well. The X6 has been out for a year now, and I haven’t seen more than 3 or 4 of them total on the streets of Los Angeles. So, what gives?

Agreed, Forbes list of high demand cars shown on the infographic is questionable, but Forbes really did write that.http://www.forbes.com/2009/12/07/2010-popular-car…
BTW, Murcielago costs $4745 per year to fuel? I'm calling BS on that one. Cmon, nobody puts more than a couple hundred miles a year on those cars. You can't do an apple-apple comparison of an exotic with a friggin Prius.
I know quite a few Lambo owners who daily drive their cars. You don't see them often, because the high mileage cars don't end up on the front pages of ads, but in wholesale auctions and sold overseas, but I know 4 or 5 people with at least 40,000 miles on their lambo's, some in the first 2 years.
I wonder why do the high mileage Lambo's end up in wholesal auctions and sold overseas? Why not sell them here in US at an auction?
sometimes they get sold here as well. but you just don't see them advertised as much.
Forbes is wrong ! 95 octane gasoline is at least 2.00 dollars per liter here in Turkey . Turkey has the most expensive gasoline in the world. Not that I'm bragging about it !
95 octane isn't even available in this country. When they do price averages like this, it's almost always the average price for 87 "regular" gas.
I just checked the prices and it's $ 2.49 / liter in Turkey (95 octane ) .. Turkey has the most expensive gasoline in the world.
How is it that the US has such low petrol prices compared to the UK and rest of the world. I dont drive but still get a shock when i see petrol station here in the UK at £1.29 a litre. Sure the UK has a higher octane rating of fuel (and therefore better) but that can t the the sole reason.
the US has so many cars and imports so much foreign oil, that they can control the prices of crude better than smaller countries like the UK.
Anybody else notice the front mount intercooler (and looks like a cage too) on the Matrix? Exactly where is THAT on the Toyota lot?
2nd most expensive fuel……probably means that i spend the same in the uk on fueling my mr2 as these previously mentioned US lambo drivers……damn it im going to cycle!
Sadly, it's more or less the same price here in Europe : untill 1,65€ per liter.. that more 2$ !! and the diesel is for less than 1,2€. That's why every body got a diesel here : better milles per gallon (or l/100km I should say) and cheaper at the station.
By the way, Matt, keep going, I really like you videos.
See you from Belgium
