Matt always buys impractical cars and tries to justify them as practical, even though they are far from it. He buys cars with 2 seats, racing harnesses, that are lowered and scrape everywhere, and yet he maintains practicality. Once, he decided to buy an SUV for practicality purposes. The one he chose? A used Hummer H1, possibly the least practical car on earth. Dan makes him put his money where his mouth is by holding a practicality challenge, putting The Smoking Tire Corvette against the most practical car in the US: a base Nissan Versa.

practicality be damned! nice sound. so how does it handle in the snow?
wouldn't know, never tried it.
So that's not the car you take snowboarding then. I too have the same measure of practicality. That's why I ended up with a 2+2 300zx. Hatchback, so I can fit some stuff, 4 seats so I can fit 2 people and two double-amputees, and when I go up to the mountain it's, well, it's exciting, put it that way. I actually have had 4 people in it a bunch of times. They're not exactly comfortable, but it beats walking, that's what I tell them anyway.
We have a 1998 Volvo V70XC for ski trips, it's worth maybe $1500, but handles the job nicely…
Yep youre right that sound makes it all worth it!!
That's right eddie!
Is Matt Farah secretly a redneck? Burnouts? and I'm gonna do a punk comment and remind you that you're not TOP GEAR LOL. Other than that, I love your show. More originality and cleaver stuff! keep up the great work!
We know we're not Top Gear, because if we were, our checks would be much, much bigger.
And say what you will about rednecks, they have the most fun of anyone I know.
[...] Matt's Corvette vs. Nissan Versa Base: Practicality Challenge … [...]
Agreed. So here's an idea I thought up of for you that I think is unique, lots of fun, and to my knowledge, has not been done. Come to think of it, rather than posting it publicly just shoot me an email. Take care.
send your idea directly to me, Matt@thesmokingtire.com
Great Show and f*** practicality. I buy sports cars for the fun and showing off. It cool to show up at a drive thru or car wash with a mustang or vette.
Matt, you need to get one of those mustangs you're always driving, Then you can have 500 horsepower AND a bit of practicality. Nice vette though, and it fit alot more luggage than i thought it would.
if you want practicality look at a 4 door m3
or if you don't want to worry about having too nice of a car, get a honda fit and swap a k20 or a k24 engine in it
I think setting up the ramps should count, because that's pretty impractical to do everyday to avoid scraping…
Email sent, subject "the idea" Thanks.
affirmative.

Love the show, especially this episode. And just so I can use it in the future, what was the justification for buying an H1?
I just wanted it. No other reason.
