Rumormill: Ferrari 458 Spider To Use Hard Top?

How do you fit a retractable hardtop in a rear/mid engined car? That’s the question we’re hoping the boys from Maranello can answer. TeamSpeed is reporting that Ferrari plans to use a retractable hard top for the forthcoming 458 Italia Spider, much like the California’s unit. Power will be the same, 570 hp 4.5L V8 as the coupe, and if this rendering by TeamSpeed’s “DJ” are any indication, the Spider could be one of the best looking Ferrari’s of all time.

If the production 458 Italia Spider resembles the rendering then it will be amazing looking.

That design is soo Ferrari that it doesn't need any badges…

That thing is like a mash up between an Enzo and a F430 spider… in other words, it's sweeeeeeet.

This car looks better every time I see it

I don't see why they couldn't come up with a non-power hard-top version since this car has such a small area around the cabin…

I was just at the Rodeo car show this past weekend celebrating father's day with my pop, and ferrari of America was there (showing off the 458 of course!)
Thinking of this I asked the Ferrari rep there about the spider, only to have him tell me everything on the internet was false and there's aparently no real info out on the spider yet.
