Video: Ferrari 458 Italia Review

The Smoking Tire takes Ferrari’s newest supercar to an appropriately exotic location for a thorough road test. Somewhere home to celebrities, billionaires, and guidos. Somewhere like New Jersey. Host Matt Farah wrings the 458 Italia out on New Jersey’s beautiful roads to find out if it is truly the best Ferrari yet.

*If we had realized this past Sunday’s episode of Top Gear would have been the end of the season, we would have rushed this video out, just to beat Top Gear to it. If you think I’m ripping off Clarkson, remember we filmed this a month ago, before anyone had seen Top Gear. Video after the jump.

Who cares if top gear was showing this car a little while ago… it means nothing. Great review and i love the scenery in this. Also thanks for the link to the gotham rentals. I might try using it for my wedding coming up :)

  2. DriverG says:

    Dude, that's totally a Datsun.

  3. Steve says:

That thing has to be one of the best looking cars ever! Lets see,… If I sell the house and live out of the Ferrarri…Yup totaly doable!

  4. MikeyMcD says:

Now THAT is a car person’s car. I actually don’t think the price is that ridiculous because it’s about the same a California which isn’t nearly as cool. I was expecting it to be closer to 300,000. It is dissapointing that it has no manual though. It’s my only “complaint” about it.

  5. Michael says:

    Wicked car. Nice review Matt

  6. anon says:

How about showing the interior and other bits in more detail. All your reviews feel at bit incomplete.

  7. Joe says:

Dude.. ? You reviewed the 458 Italia before the Camaro?.. the hell happened to the camaro review?…

all I saw was that firebreather movie car crap..

None the less, awesome car, but what's the deal with the flashing headlights/running lights?.. I don't like that at all. In terms of performance I was blown away by the Top Gear comparison to the F430.. I'd still kill for one of those tho Lol.

And as for you calling the 458 Italia a "Entry Level Ferrari".. I don't think there's a such thing Lol..

Nice review and you are a VERY lucky man Matt.

Camaro review is next week. The lights don't flash, that's just how the camera's frame rate captures them.

    • Steve says:

Cameras never pick up LED's right, they always look like they're flashing or flickering.

    • Steve says:

Uhhhhh Yahh youd do the 458 Italia Review before the mullet…I mean Camaro……

      • Joe says:

I honestly couldn't give 2 shits about the camaro, my point was that they even made a posting about doing a Camaro review asking people for input but then suddenly out of nowhere they review this godly 458 Italia and the Camaro is no where to be seen.. hell I got about a million questions on the 458 I would of liked to ask..

Fuck the camaro.. ever since it appeared on transformers it's become nothing more than a gimmick.

  8. Sid-X says:

    That sound! Sex.

  9. static says:

thank you Matt for this nice video. The scene with the guy in the trunk made my day
    big thx.

  10. Bogdan says:

Great review of the new Ferrari, although, just one little detail… its not a entry level Ferrari, California is significantly cheaper, at least in Europe. As my brother commented, you'd be great as host for TopGear America… Anyway, could you tell me your height(Matt), cause I'm thinking on buying one and I'm 6'6'' and of similar build. Thanks and keep it up!

    • TheSmokingTire says:

6'6" in the 458 would be a tight squeeze. if you're really considering one you should sit in one first. In the US, the California and 458 have identical base prices.

  11. Davis says:

Did you check to make sure this wasn't a Datsun this time? Seriously though good review, keep up the work.

  12. roxtar says:

the radio is there where the speedometer is where the radio shows up

  13. Rosy rari says:

The Ferrari 458 is powered by 4.499-liter V8 engine that is measured as 274.5 cu in, adopted from Maserati/Ferrari design and delivers a high throughput of 400 lb-ft and 560 hp.
