What Do You Want to Know About the E550 Coupe?

This week, The Smoking Tire has a Quartz Blue Mercedes-Benz E550 Coupe in the garage. Normally, we’d drive it and write a review, same as always, but this week, we’re going to try something different. I want to know what YOU want to know about this car. Real time car reviews. So if you have a question, post it up here in the comments section, and I’ll get you an answer over the course of driving the E550 around for a week.

This could totally go either way, but we’re going to find out now.

    1) Even though it's a coupe, it seems like the kind of car a female real estate agent would drive. Does it feel different in person?

    2) Mercs are known for their lack of feedback and horrid electronic nannies. How does the E550 feel?

    3) Would you rather own this, or the Audi S5?

  3. RaY says:

Does the car roll in the bends?
    Whats 0 to 60?
    What type of suspention?

  4. mike says:

    Does it attract the ladies?

  5. 1SpS says:

How does it compare with the S5 and 650i? Also, does it feel like more of a luxury cruiser or a grand tourer?

  6. Alec421 says:

    How's the reliability?

  7. Drey says:

1/4 mile time… weight… mpg dyno if possible

  8. HayesData says:

Does one feel like a well-heeled Grandfather whilst piloting an E class. Additionally was this particular car banished from the Fatherland for eschewing the requisite black, gray, silver or white color scheme the Teutons deemed superior for well engineered and motoring so long ago.

  9. JCUOIT says:

    1) Is it easier to get in your driveway than your 'vette?

    2) would you rather have had this for the road trip you did in Ram?

    3) what makes the E550 coupe special from all the other huge luxury coupes out there? nicer than a 6 series?

  10. Nutinmuch says:

    Does it blend?

No, but seriously how are the brakes? A simple number really doesn't do a good job of describing the feel of them, not to mention most luxury cars I've been in recently seem to have trash for brakes for whatever reason.

Also steering feel + how annoying the nannies are, like the other dude said. Sure, it's a luxury vehicle but I'm pretty sure Toyota has the rolling-Ambien thing covered.

  11. nate says:

On a scale of 1-11, how embarrassed do you feel to be driving that car?

  12. Yuji Hoshi says:

I want to know about the key touchpoints in the car! I own a C63 AMG, and I really hate how the dashboard is cheap and plastic and from what i hear, the cheaper mercs are heading into this direction? Please let me know how the new E-coupe stands!

  13. ZeGerman says:

Okay, I'll post another question: Does it have a dipstick?

  14. K24EP3 says:

I wouldn't be so concerned with the performance number as the overall feel of the car. Lets me honest, no one buys an E class to drive the crap out of it. Sure its great for blasting down the interstate, and I'l like to know what that feels like in the car so review about that if possible.
I've always seen non AMG benz's and kindof like having a personal assistant with you while you're driving. You're there, but the car does all the work. Would like to know what the radar cruise is like to use in the real world. (does it have that feature or is that S class exclusive?)
Basically does it make you feel special driving it, because that's what a Mercedes should do.

    ps. BEST SHOW EVER!

  15. Gary says:

Lets say you're cruising down the freeway and your favorite song comes on. How does the steering wheel padding feel while you tap it with your hands? Is it just like hitting a nice booty, or more like the feel of slapping a cardboard box?

  16. Ben says:

how many people look at the color and say WTF?!
also how is it on long drives

  17. FCR says:

Does it make the owner of that C230 parked across the street jealous?

  18. Steve says:

Yeah 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are pointless in a car like this. Maybe overtaking ability is better?

And a car like this should be quiet inside. How does it compare to just regular cars in db?

And always good to see how the gizmos work. I agree with K24EP3 and would like to know what the radar cruise is like to use in the real world.

  19. b7a4killsv8s says:

I frankly don't care if any sane person would do it. I know that if I bought one I would. Take it to the track. Its a coupe. Is it really a sports lux, or is it just a poser. Does my Audi need to be worried when pulling up next to one, or will I be giggling like a school girl as I smoke the crap out of it?

  20. Chris says:

    Will it drift?

  21. Zero says:

How many "gizmos-you-don't-need" is this car equipped ?

  22. Niner says:

Being a longtime BMW owner, the new E coupe is grabbing my attention. Now I know it's not fair comparing a coupe to a sedan, but how would you rate this with what we know about the new 5 series? Do you think that the new E coupe will be able to compete with the new BMW on a performance and aesthetic front knowing how the current 5 series performs and looks?

  23. gearhead_318 says:

    1) pick up hookers, is their enough room for sexytime or did MB drop the ball and forget about the average E55 owners favorite after happy our activity?
    2) Hows the sound system, yes you can hear Master of Puppets, but can you feel it?
    3) Take it drag racing, this has little purpose for a lux car but I think it would be intreating to watch.
    4) how much time does it take to cover the body in a vinyl wrap? If you filmed the reaction when you returned the car to MB with a carbon fiber lookin’ vinyl on it the face of the person who works for Benz, it would be priceless

  24. K24EP3 says:

LOL at Chris for the "will it drift" comment
Any chance on closing Mulholland Drive for round 2 street drifted PIMPED edition?? That would be sweet. Or any drifting for that matter.
