McLaren P1′s Ass Puts Kim Kardashian on Notice

20 years ago, McLaren’s first road car, the F1, turned the supercar world completely upside down. It was the fastest accelerating production car ever, the most expensive production car ever, and it posessed the highest top speed of any car ever produced (by accident, mind you). And unlike the contemporary Bugatti Veyron, which is more like a cruise missile with seats than a real sports car, it was as pure a driver’s car as can be, with a curb weight less than a Lotus Elise despite its BMW V12 engine, seat in the middle and all. McLaren has just released this teaser image of the “design study” for it’s new P1 Hypercar and damn, look at that badonkadonk. Color us excited. More photos after the jump.

The new P1, which shares what appears to be a basic silhouette and nothing more with the MP4-12C, has one goal, according to McLaren: to be the best driver’s car in the world on the road and track. Now, having been fortunate enough to spend about 30 minutes behind the wheel of a 1996 F1 a few years back, there is no company I trust more than McLaren to provide this experience. Rumor has it the P1 will be shoved toward the horizon by a twin-turbo V8 engine with KERS hybrid propulsion, producing a combined horsepower of around 980, and weight will be kept in the 3,000 pound range. It would be far too much to ask in 2012 that this car should come with a manual transmission, but, as no one’s seen the interior yet, I think we’re all keeping our fingers crossed for a central driving position, which would honestly be the best thing ever. The rest of the car will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show.
