Andy Greene, the Caretaker of Vintage Italian Iron [video]
By Zack Klapman
1 : one that gives physical or emotional care and support <served as caretaker to the younger children>
2 : one that takes care of the house or land of an owner who may be absent
This is the kind of thing that comes to my mind when I hear “caretaker”. I imagine an old man, living in the guest quarters of some rich family’s old stone house up on a windy hill, fixing windows and trapping mice. Like someone sprinkled some fancy garnish on the word “live in janitor.”
But as you will see in this video, when that word is applied to the world of vintage Ferraris, it is so much more. Andy Greene is the owner of Andy Greene Sports and Vintage Race Cars
; he’s been fixing and maintaining old Ferraris since he was fresh out of college. Working on something so special, for that long, has created a special relationship with automobiles that many of us will never have. But that doesn’t mean we don’t understand.
This video, titled “The Caretaker”, brings us into the mind of a man who has done nothing but love and care for some of the most special cars ever to grace the earth. You will see his shop, filled with special Ferraris from every decade. Then go on a ride with Andy in his stunning Ferrari
250 GT SWB. Make the jump to watch.

This little film was shot and edited by Frazer Spowart, the same man who created the series, Cars I See, a series that beautifully shows us the connection a person can have to a specific car. This video is similar. It brings us into Andy’s world, into his mind, to illustrate the affection and passion he has for these old Italian stars, like his Ferrari 250 SWB
What Greene -and this video- illustrates is that just as the cars we own are a part of our history, we are a part of theirs. If you own a car that you feel has a soul, or a story, or is special, you owe it the same dedication that Andy gives to his cars.
