Podcast #53 with Jamie Robinson and Wes Siler of RIDE APART

Screen shot 2013-01-16 at 2.47.36 AM

On this week’s episodes, we’re talking motorcycles with two of the best heads on two wheels: Jamie Robinson and Wes Siler, from the DRIVE Network’s show, RIDE APART. The show really covers every aspect and facet of motorcycling you could ever want to know about. Street bikes, race bikes, dirt bikes, old, new, racing, safety, road trips, all of it. If you’ve owned a bike, you’ll understand, and if you haven’t, the show does a great job of painting the picture. There isn’t just one kind of bike, or one way to ride it. On RIDE APART, you will see it all.

Jamie is a professional racer, formerly competing in Moto GP and the completely nuts and coolest race ever: Isle of Man TT. Wes writes reviews for Jalopnik and is a founder of the online magazine, Hell for Leather.

Matt, Thaddeus, and I (Zack) have all owned motorcycles, and we’ve all-for one reason or another-left them in the past, finding happiness with cars. So like you, we had a lot of questions for them. We get into the whys, how speed and power of car vs. bike compare,  riding super motard for the first time, beginner bikes, and of course, how you ride past stone walls at 180MPH.

    Thanks for the podcast guys.

I'm on the same boat of loving cars but also liking bikes. My only issue is i have a pretty sweet bike for 5 grand and a 5 grand car won't be as great. I'm still really thinking about trading but I'm afraid of ending up with a old unreliable car with no money to fix it.

Can't wait to listen to the podcast tomorrow!

In speed for your buck, you can't beat a bike. It's just not possible. But if you crash, it could cost a lot to put you back together.

Well I actually have a supermoto so it only goes like 110 maybe. But that is true, I am always afraid to have fun with it and always just end up putting along, which is still great fun and there is something special about just cruising on a bike on the road. I think I would still rather have a fun little beater car but I don't think i'll be able to bring myself to sell the bike.

        First world problems….

  • Egotistical

Texas has no helmet laws for motorcycles but we have helmet laws for bicycles. I got pulled over on a beach cruiser and the cop was bitching at me telling me he could have written me a $200 ticket. Ass backwards.

Doesn't sound like the Texas I know. Cutting edge of education and level-headed thinking over there. – Zack
