Video: Truck Driver is a Moron, Nearly Kills Motorcyclist. **Updated**

Screen Shot 2013-03-04 at 11.20.30 AMI like driving fast and making videos as much as the next guy (probably more, even), but there is something that I absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances while driving the beautiful canyon roads that California has to offer. I never, ever cross the double yellow line unless I have either a) a very long straightaway with lots of visibility, or b) spotters with radios in constant communication with what is happening with oncoming traffic.  This video, taken by two morons in a truck, shows you exactly why you should never cross the double line in a corner. While attempting to film some downhill skateboarders, they come literally inches from killing someone on a motorcycle. Watch in horror and take this as a lesson of what never to do in a car. **Updated with Motorcyclist’s POV camera as well**

And now, the motorcyclist’s point of view:

And, if you do choose to film downhill skateboarders in the canyons, absolutely get their permission first and follow their instructions as to what is a safe following distance, like this:

The truck driver is a moron, no question.

The skateboarders are almost as stupid. Their speeds are significantly less than those of the cars and trucks on the road. In every study, differences in speed is the single biggest factor in motor vehicle accidents. When vehicles are all traveling about the same speed, there are relatively few accidents. Throw in a very slow or very fast vehicle, or group of vehicles, and you practically create an accident.

Not disagreeing with you that its dangerous to long board down a hill like that but they aren't almost killing another person. only risking their own lives, to me not even close to each other in stupidity.

Truck driver: "I saved us, did you see that?"

Hopefully the motorcyclist sent this video to the police for prosecution for reckless endangerment or something of the sort..

Being both a downhill skater and a motorcycle rider, this video shows the terrifying reality of both sports. The skaters and motorcyclist are both taking a certain said of personal risks. However, these are PERSONAL risks, and can be done responsibly. A proper downhill bomb will include flaggers/radiomen at any intersection and finishing point of a run. Furthermore, the camera car serves a safety function as well by using their flashers to alert fellow motorist, and to prevent aggressive drivers from tailgating the skaters and endangering their lives. As to the 'slow' speed of skaters…many of these canyon run types reach up to 70mph…50 would be a better average though.

Obviously, the camera crew were morons and should not be driving on public roads

I hope that biker with the GoPro ran those tags on that FJ to CHP. That guy was an f***ing idiot and so was the douchebag who was like "oh yeah lets put this on YouTube". The thing with the skateboarders is that those guys were out for a good time just as much as the bikers, in my opinion. Totally agree with getting their permission to tape them first.

Yeah and by the way, rule number 1 when traveling canyon roads: pay 110% to SITUATIONAL AWARENESS.

      Should send in the plates.

Jesus Christ. Yeah, this is why I only ride off-road now. These kinds of inbred Inlanders are the kind of people who nearly killed my on my Nighthawk, and would go for a second try if I let them.

  • Dirty Dingus McGee

The drooling mouth breather that was driving that FJ needs to be beaten within an inch of his worthless life. Preferable by using the inbred window licking cameraman as the weapon.

Un friggin believable. And then to just laugh it off? Arrrg. Where's my blood pressure medication.
