VIDEO: Ultra-Light, 505 WHP AVI Racing Corvette GT1

AVI racing corvette

Dedicated track cars are all the rage. But instead of having an Atom made of ladders or a rare KTM that has expensive carbon fiber and requires Audi parts($$)? Why not buy one that has a reliable motor, 505WHP, and  parts you can get anywhere?

That’s why AVI Racing built this Corvette-based prototype. It has a tube chassis, which is wider than a stock C6, and it’s a lot lighter, but the engine(LS3), transmission, drive-shaft, and tons of other parts are available at a GM dealer. So even if you’re in the middle of nowhere, like we were at INDE Motorsport Ranch, and you break something, you can probably find it at a local parts store or nearby Chevy dealer. When you consider it’s faster around a track than the World Challenge Car that AVI also owns, it’s quite a bargain. A really fun bargain that totally blew our ears out. Make the jump for the video.

    Hell…yes.

This is exactly how you do a track day car. This guy really understands that a large part of track days or track driving is about being able to go out and drive. If you have to work on things you can do it on your own, simply, for cheap in your own garage. Badass, so badass. I have been around track days and Auto-x's for so long you see so many guys who build these insane cars that don't last or are unreliable etc etc.

"So I attempted my first ever' BRAAAAAAAP BRAAAAAAP VRAAAAOOOOOOMM BRAAOOMMMMMM

    …Say what Matt?

That was a badass feature and if these cars are $60k this guy has pretty much killed it. 2300lbs with 505whp in a tube fram chassis C6 Vette. I will take one immediately. Parts available through GM just put the icing on the cake. Great feature dude, really hope we see more stuff like this.
