Put the paddles down, turn off the heart monitor, the doctor has called it. SAAB is officially being laid to rest by GM. After unsuccessfully trying to sell the company first to Koenigsegg, and then to Spyker Cars. Either deal would have meant these brilliant super-car makers were expanding into mass-production. Who knows what SAABs with some Koenigsegg DNA would have been like, but I bet it would be a helluva lot more exciting than the ones GM made. Along with the death of the SAAB brand goes 1,100 dealerships and 3,400 jobs. While we may not have wanted to buy them, those employees damn well wanted to keep making them.
